Albertus

For this site, we have chosen to use the font Albertus, created by Berthold Wolpe (1905-1989). The typograph, and typography historian, was born in Germany but lived in London. He started to work on the Albertus font in 1938 for Monotype corporation. He first created Albertus Titling, exclusively made of capital letters for titles, and then he added the lower case letters to complete the font in 1940.
With its sharp triangle serifs, drawn as a mere enlarging of the end of the letters, Albertus looks chiselled in stone, which makes it a noble, elegant font.
